… but when I’m very tired, I go to sleep. The little baby thinks it’s smarter to just scream and scream and scream.
Seems counterproductive.
Update 1: … and scream.
Update 2: This is from Thanksgiving, but seems to fit her current mood:

Ask and ye shall receive! Here are some new pictures of our two-month-old daughter Sadie…
“I’m 97% percentile in height and weight”:

“No one knows what it’s like to be the baby behind blue eyes”:

“Daddy always told me not to take a rattle to a knife fight”:

“Sometimes I’m all contemplative”:

Sadie and I often spend some quality time up in my office reading the news. I’m not sure how much longer Little-Miss-97th-percentile will be able to fit comfortably in my crossed legs, though:

If you want prints of any of the digital images, let me know and I’ll Ofoto them to you.

Early last year, we moved to suburbia and found ourselves pregnant. A few months later, I was beginning to show.
So, A. and I have joined the new Gold’s Gym down the road in Millis. We’re lucky to find a brand-new franchise with sparkly equipment, clean locker rooms and daycare for babies at least 10-weeks old. We’ve gone a few times, and I had my complimentary hour of personal training this morning. A. and I both had gyms in the city; we’ll see how well we can keep it up out here in Suburbia.
Today’s helpful hint: never take Milliston Road back to Route 109. The light cycle at the end of the road is at least 4 minutes long, an eternity when you’re dripping sweat. If you’re not travelling at rush hour, you can avoid this by cutting through the Roche Bros. parking lot and turning left out of there. [Updated 1/9/06: Ok, so you actually can’t do this. It’s one way the other way. Oops. Guess you have to sit through the light now.]

The Big Help was published this morning in the Globe and at BostonWorks.com. This is my first Big Help since joining Boston.com full-time, and I’m pretty excited.
With all the new employers, we have 23,000 jobs listed. We’re also trying some new gizmos, like a gallery of the best ads, and a way you can make your own road sign.
Anyway, I hope you like it. Please feel free to drop me a note or leave a comment with your thoughts.
p.s., In a couple of months, I’ll bring you The Big Move…

Former Lotus Notes developer Dave Delay defends Notes against Internet critics.
In my opinion, people dislike Notes because their expectations don’t jive with the original intent of the product. At its core, Notes is a runtime environment for collaborative applications, but when people complain about Notes, they are usually not talking about core Notes at all. They are talking about the Notes Mail and Calendar applications.
I’ve been there. Many people didn’t “get” Abuzz; some were even puzzled by Life Times Voice. But, it’s still wrong to blame the users, especially those forced to use the product.
I have to use Lotus Notes every day at work, and it routinely costs me at least a half-hour a day in lost productivity, precisely because I have to use it for mail and calendar. I design and develop software for a living, and I find myself continually baffled by Notes. I feel for Mr. Delay, but Lotus Notes needs some serious usabilty work in the parts of the application most folks actually use.

I found an unwelcome surprise while driving down Alden Road this morning: two coyotes strolling down the street. We’ll have to keep the baby and the cats inside from now on.

A. and I left Sadie alone with Grandma for the first time today. Everyone seems to have survived.
We’d been holding off on dropping her with anyone (despite many offers) because of her unwillingness to drink happily from the bottle. But, I think over the past week we’ve been able to nail it; we changed the bottle we were using, and we heated the milk to a warmer temperature than before. Magical.
So now, the baby is transferable. We can start taking little trips out to dinner, to a movie or a show, maybe even to a Red Sox game — only six weeks until spring training!

Sadie has improved her neck control this week — head goes left, head goes right, head goes left — it’s a fun game! We’ve started putting her in the boppy so that she can look around at her world.
Plus, good excuse for me to put up some more pictures. (As always, I have hi-res versions of all the pictures if you want to print one out — just email me.)
Here she is sitting in the boppy:

Here she is doing her fun new “I smile with my tongue sticking out” face:

After I took quite a few pictures, Sadie gave me her patented “Daddy, What the heck” look (previously featured after the stupidest thing I’ve said the baby (so far):

Adam Gaffin (of Universal Hub fame) is doing an interesting mash-up of the daily crime log and Google Maps called Boston Crime. Check it out.
Kinda makes me glad I’m out in Suburbia now…

I had a horrible time with spammers on Movable Type. I hope that my new WordPress installation will avoid those problems. I missed the comments.
Comment away!

Hi everyone -
I’ve gone and redesigned the site and changed over from Movable Type to WordPress. I’m still working out some of the design and porting issues, but it should be pretty much all set. If you have any questions or thoughts, please drop me a line.
I still have a ton of work to do to port all the legacy parts of the site to the new look, but I’ll work on that piecemeal over the next few weeks.
Thanks,
Jason

Excellent article in the Times this morning about how subjects of media attention can get their side of the story out there.
Interview subjects are “annoyed that they’re quoted out of context, or they did a half-hour interview and only one sentence got used. Or sometimes they’re just flattered that a reporter called them,” she said. “If you’re one of a growing number of people with a blog, you now have a place where you can set the record straight.”
Another reason I recommend everyone get their own blog. If you need help setting one up, please drop me a line and I’ll help you out.
